Wrestling Federation of India assistant secretary Vinod Tomar suspended

New Delhi, 22 January. Amidst the controversy of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brijbhushan Singh, the central government has suspended WFI assistant secretary Vinod Tomar last night. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports issued an order confirming the suspension of Tomar, in a statement issued by the Ministry, it has been mentioned that the Ministry has drawn attention to the report on the functioning of the WFI, including the role of Vinod Tomar, and there is no reason. It is understood that this action of suspension was taken due to Tomar’s statement believing that his presence (in the association) is detrimental to the development of this high priority sport. Tomar said on Saturday that while completely denying the serious allegations of sexual harassment leveled against Brijbhushan, he said, wrestlers in wrestling are constantly being promoted. We are taking wrestling forward for the country. I did not know the intentions of the protesting wrestlers. It is surprising that wrestlers sit on sit-in. Tomar joined WFI in 2002 as Assistant Secretary. He has been suspended from WFI for indiscipline. The Sports Authority of India (SAI) has been asked to inform the WFI of the government’s decision immediately.
