Bombay, January 13. The festival of Pongal has started in Tamil Nadu with the release of the films Varisu and Thunivu. Well-known stars of the South Indian film industry, Vijay and Ajith Kumar, have received the film enthusiastically from the fans. Let us tell you that Thunivu’s show started at 1pm in Tamil Nadu and Warisu’s show started around 4pm. Also, the films of both stars give stiff competition to each other. Let me tell you, this is not the first time Vijay and Ajith starrer films have clashed at the box office. However, this time the competition is getting fiercer, what’s going on about who is the bigger star, Ajith or Vijay?
Amid all the hype and promotions, Warisu and Thunivu’s fans have gone crazy. Some incidents have even been reported in some parts of Chennai. From the vandalism of a theater to the death of an Ajith fan during a party, the releases of these films have taken everyone by surprise.
According to the reports, both movies have done very well. The first day collections of both films were average. The first day opening for both will be more or less the same in the range of around 16-18 crores. An official confirmation of this is awaited. Tiruppur Subramanian, president of TN Theater and Multiplex Owners Association, confirmed that all shows of both films were sold out on Wednesday. Some have also predicted that these films could reach Rs 100 crore in Tamil Nadu alone by the end of this week. Vaarisu and Thunivu have also seen a huge opening in Kerala and Karnataka.
