Mumbai, January 05. The rupee rose 22 paise to 82.78 against the US dollar in the interbank foreign exchange market today as the dollar weakened against major currencies worldwide. On the other hand, the rupee fell by 22 paise to Rs.83 per dollar on the last trading day.
The rupee opened higher by 13 paise at 82.87 per dollar in early trading and rose to a high of 82.74 per dollar supported by selling during the session. At the same time, it fell to a low of Rs 82.91 per dollar due to purchases. It eventually came in at Rs.82.78 per dollar, up 22 points from Rs.83 per dollar in the previous session.
