With this new facility, 15 additional delivery rooms, beds and 2 tables will be functional in the GTB Hospital, relieving the old delivery rooms. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is one of the busiest departments of GTB Hospital, serving the needs of the Yamunapar people and surrounding Uttar Pradesh. In GTB, approximately 1800 to 2000 deliveries take place every month, of which 500 are delivered by caesarean section. The addition of the aforementioned facility will improve the quality of patient care and reduce the problem of overcrowding.

another new feature

Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics will be started in the Dentistry department. This facility was started by Dr. Harpreet Grewal, Professor, GTBH Department of Dentistry under Dr. Subhash Giri, Medical Director, in the already functioning Dentistry Department.

Orthodontics is a dental specialty concerned with the prevention, occlusion and correction of occlusion (i.e., irregular teeth and dento-facial deformities), creating a pleasant and beautiful smile in people of all ages, from infants, adolescents to adults.

There are limited government hospitals and facilities that provide specialized orthodontic treatment, especially in East and North East Delhi, which is home to about 1/3 of Delhi’s total population. Until recently, patients, mostly from the lower and middle socioeconomic strata of society, had to travel long distances to seek such specialized treatment from other institutions such as AIIMS/Meds, which themselves had a growing patient waiting list.

To benefit the increasing number of patients and the needy in general, UCMS and GTBH developed this new orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics facility with five experienced specialists in this field and fully functional to provide state-of-the-art services. A special room has been opened for dental chairs.
