After taking the oath, the council members can now have the activities related to the company carried out in the district. The people of the neighborhood can go directly to the alderman with problems of the corporation. If the corporation so wishes, the district fund money can also be paid directly into the council members’ account.

While the mayor has to wait a little longer. If we are to believe the company’s senior officials, there is a possibility that the new mayor will not be found until April. The meeting of the House of Representatives will be held again in February with the instructions of the LG bureau, but it seems difficult to choose the mayor. In Tuesday’s house meeting, 250 councilors and 10 nominated members of Delhi were sworn in amid uproar, but the election of the mayor failed to take place. Earlier on January 6, due to similar turmoil, the meeting of the Chamber was adjourned without result.

If the mayor is now elected in mid-February, the new mayor will not have time to understand his job and get to work. Under the DMC Act-1957, the election of the mayor is scheduled for April. In such a situation, it is believed that both Aam Aadmi Party and BJP do not want to hold the mayoral election for just one month at the next meeting. So far, no party is speaking anything clearly on this issue.

Councilors were given the right to work

The councilors have the right to have the work related to the company carried out in the district. He can talk directly to company officials about the problems of the people of the district. For now, until the mayor is elected, he will not have as much power to address the people in front of the officials, but he will be able to actively work between the public and the company. If the corporation wants, the council members can also receive money. This is how he gets development work done in the department.

Special officers continue to serve as mayor

Until the mayor is elected, Ashwani Kumar, the company’s special officer, will continue to do the job of the MCD like the mayor. The Corporation Commissioner will continue to send him files pertaining to the operation of the MCD.
