An assistant professor of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University was called twice to become the vice-chancellor of his own university by LG. The suspect was sanctioned for the first time on his own leave. The second time, the suspect tried to get his sister a job in the university’s English department. On suspicion, when the Vice Chancellor had it investigated, the reality came to light. The complaint was lodged with Dwarka North Police Station. At the time of the incident, the suspect had gone to the UK for studies.

A lookout order has been issued against the professor

The police were issued the LOC (Look Out Circular) against the suspect. As soon as he reached India on Monday, he was caught at IGI Airport. He has been identified as Rohit Singh. He has been appointed assistant professor at the university’s Department of Economics. Rohit’s father Rajpal Singh and sister Manvi are also co-incriminated by the police in the case.

Named as LG on VC landline from UK

Senior police officers of Dwarka district said that last year someone Dr. Mahesh Verma, VC of GGSIP University, called posing as Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. The suspect had called the VC’s landline number and talked about giving Rohit Singh, assistant professor of the university, a leave of absence to study abroad. Rohit was fired. After this, on September 30, 2022, the VC received another call. The caller posing as the VC pressured her to appoint a girl named Manvi Singh to the English department. When in doubt, the VC contacted the LG Secretariat. From there it was learned that LG has made no such call. It was also learned that no such call was ever made to anyone from the LG Secretariat. Later, taking the matter very seriously, the VC lodged a complaint with Dwarka North Police Station. The police started an investigation by registering a case under different sections including cheating, IT law.

That is how the matter came to light

After registering the case, Dwarka Police had the CDR removed from the VC office landline number. An investigation revealed that both calls had been made from a UK number. After this, the police obtained the CDR of the mobile phone of the candidate for whom the recommendation had been made. An investigation revealed that the UK number from which the VC was called was in contact with Manvi Singh and his father Rajpal. When police questioned the two, it turned out that the caller was none other than Manvi’s brother, who is currently in the UK for higher studies. He himself is an assistant professor at GGSIP University. The police have taken the suspect to court after being held in custody for a day. From where he was sent to Tihar Jail.
