A case of cheating a retired ITBP officer out of Rs 1.80 crore by threatening to post obscene videos on social media has come to light. Delhi Police Crime Division has arrested Zarif, Neeraj and Ajit Singh in this case. The suspects were arrested from Mathura and Bharatpur. More than 20 accounts were used for the defrauded amount.

The retired ITBP commander had lodged a complaint with the South West District Police that he had come into contact with a girl via WhatsApp. Then the video calls started. A few days later, the girl threatened to make the obscene video go viral on social media. After this, he called himself Inspector Ramkumar Malhotra of Crime Division of Delhi Police and cheated money from them.

After this, the accused extorted a total of Rs 1.80 crore several times instead of hiding the matter by calling himself senior police officers and Ministry of Home officials.

Details of 200 mobile and 20 bank accounts were searched
Upon the victim’s report, the police team under the supervision of ACP Ramesh Chanderlamba searched the details of some 200 mobile phones and 20 bank accounts. After this, a team raided Mathura and Bharatpur and arrested Zarif (30), resident of Bas Nandera village, tehsil Cama, Bharatpur district and Neeraj (22) and Ajit Singh (23), residents of Agaryala village, district Mathura.
