The citizens of Uttarakhand residing in the capital have demanded a thousand crore package from the Prime Minister in Joshimath case. At the meeting organized at the Press Club of India on Wednesday, a unanimous resolution was passed to help the people in Joshimath’s sad plight. Vice President of the Uttarakhand Congress and spokesman Dhirendra Pratap introduced the motion.

Renowned geologist, Kishore Ambani, Dr. Balbir Dharwan and former general manager of NHPC, Dinesh Tripathi expressed their views at the seminar. He described this tragedy as man-made and said that instead of planning for the balanced development of Uttarakhand, dams have been built. Because of the electricity schemes created there, people’s lives and property are in danger today.

Over the past 50 years, Dhirendra Pratap and Haripal Rawat justified geologists’ concerns about the plans there, saying that the plans were not being carried out fairly, which is why the people of Joshimath are now suffering.
