Expansion
Shankar, the South African elephant who has lived alone at the zoo for 18 years, may soon find a companion. The zoo’s administration has intensified the exercise to bring his companion. Shankar, from Zimbabwe, has been alone in the loft since the death of his compatriot Bombay in 2005. Because of this, he often gets frustrated and sometimes it is difficult to deal with him. Only the Delhi and Mysore zoos in the country have South African male elephants.
