Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his satisfaction with 100 percent electrification of the broad rail network in Uttar Pradesh. In response to a tweet from the Ministry of Railways about 100 percent electrification of the broad gauge network in Uttar Pradesh, the Prime Minister tweeted “Great”.
Indian Railways has reached a major milestone in rail electrification. With the completion of the electrification works of Subhagpur-Pachperwa (BG) broad gauge route under North Eastern Railway, Indian Railways has completed the electrification works of all BG routes in Uttar Pradesh. This will improve rail connections in this region and increase the speed of trains.
With this achievement, Indian Railways has completed the electrification of BG routes in six zonal railways, namely East Coast Railway, North Central Railway, North Eastern Railway, Eastern Railway, South Eastern Railway, West Central Railway. In addition, the heavily used network (HUN-5), Jhansi-Muzaffarpur-Katni is now fully electrified. It connects Bhatni-Varanasi-Naini (Allahabad)-Manikpur-Satna-Katni and Chhapra-Varanasi including Jhansi-Lucknow-Barabanki-Budhwal, Gonda-Anandnagar-Gorakhpur-Valmikinagar-Sugauli, Muzaffarpur-Bachwada and Narkatiaganj-Raxaul-Sitamarhi-Darbhanga – Connectivity between Samastipur, Sitamarhi-Muzaffarpur-Hajipur will be better.
With 85 percent electrification of total route kilometers (RKM), Indian Railways’ mission is making rapid progress towards the completion of 100 percent electrification and becoming the largest green rail network in the world.
