New Delhi. The process of convening the House has stalled as the Aam Aadmi party has taken the issue of the mayoral election to the Supreme Court. The MCD will take the initiative for this after a ruling by the Supreme Court. Actually, the MCD should take the initiative to convene the meeting of the Chamber for the election of the mayor, the deputy mayor and the six members of the Standing Committee and only then will the lieutenant governor determine the date of the meeting of the Chamber.
At the initiative of the MCD, a house meeting was held on January 24 for the election of the mayor, deputy mayor and six members of the standing committee, but after the swearing-in of the councilors there was a commotion in the meeting. This prevented the election process from starting in the assembly. The MCD had again decided to take the initiative to convene the House assembly last Friday, but before that, the Aam Aadmi party challenged the issue of not holding the election in the House assembly at the Supreme Court. For that reason, the MCD did not take the initiative to convene the parliamentary meeting on Friday.
He will not now take the initiative to call a meeting of the House on his behalf, according to MCD officials. Incidentally, the MCD will not report to the Lieutenant Governor about the commotion and the non-election of the mayor in the parliamentary meeting of January 24th. The MCD itself had to report on the non-election and the tumult in the previous meeting and thereby took the initiative to convene the meeting of the Chamber. In this regard, she will take action only after the order has been submitted to the Supreme Court at the request of the Aam Aadmi Party.
On the other hand, Presiding Officer Satya Sharma has also decided not to report to the Lieutenant Governor in case of clamor in the House Assembly. She says she will not meet with the lieutenant governor until the Supreme Court order, as the issue of convening the House meeting is still pending. Whenever the Lieutenant Governor calls her, she will go and meet him. The Aam Aadmi party has accused the BJP of failing to hold the election and causing a stir at the MCD House meeting on January 6 and 24. He says that the BJP leaders are not allowing the election of the mayor. The Aam Aadmi Party has petitioned the Supreme Court to demand an early and fair election of the mayor.
