To bolster last mile connectivity, the Delhi government will provide 1500 e-scooters at 250 places in Dwarka. At a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday, it was decided to use e-scooters under the pilot project.
After the meeting, the prime minister said that e-scooters should be driven by themselves and people can travel in bus and metro for this by taking tickets. Can pick up the e-scooter from any of the 250 locations and drop it off at any location. This facility will be launched in the next 12 months. The e-scooter has a replaceable battery. When the battery is fully charged, it can travel up to 60 kilometers at a maximum speed of 60 km/h.
The facility will start at 100 places: The Prime Minister said that the agency that will sign the agreement will arrive 500 scooters at 100 locations in four months. Within the next 4 months, 500 more scooters will arrive at 100 locations and in the next 4 months, 500 scooters will arrive at 100 locations. Within 12 months, 1500 e-scooters will be available at 250 locations.
This contract is given to the agency for seven years. All 250 locations are full with maximum number of people. There are about 10 metro stations and many bus stops in Dwarka district. In this, these scooters will be made available wherever people go, including subway stations, bus stops, hospitals, markets and shopping malls.
The government is going to make 10 charging and maintenance hubs
The Delhi government is going to set up 10 charging and maintenance hubs, each covering an area of 100 square meters. In addition, need-based parking will be allocated near metro stations, bus depots and major areas and within the Dwarka sub-city.
