The I Love Yamuna campaign was launched on Wednesday from Chhath Ghat of ITO on behalf of Eco Club of Forest Department and Environment Department of Delhi Government. The campaign was launched by Minister of Environment and Forestry, Gopal Rai. About 1500 children and teachers from Ecoclubs of different schools participated. Children also participated in a slogan writing contest related to cleaning up Yamuna. The students who write good slogans are rewarded in this on the occasion of the Day of the Environment on 5 June. At the same time, the children also took an oath about the purity of the Yamuna.

Free medicinal plants were also distributed to all people in the program. On this occasion, Gopal Rai also appealed to the people to be a part of the human chain to be formed between Wazirabad and Kalindi Kunj at 6:30 am on June 4. During the I Love campaign, Gopal Rai inspected the cleanliness campaign at Yamuna Ghat after planting saplings. Addressing the people, he said that Yamuna is not just for Delhi, but cherishes the entire ecosystem. Over the years, massive amounts of chemicals, plastics and other pollutants have disrupted the river’s ecosystem balance. All stakeholders, local communities and educational institutions will have to join forces and work with the government to clean up the Yamuna.
