The Delhi government has become active in swearing the newly elected councilors of MCD and conducting the election of the mayor, deputy mayor and six members to be elected from the house. The Delhi government has sent a proposal to the Lieutenant Governor to hold the meeting of MCD House on 18, 20, 21 or 24 January for the oath to the councilors and for the mayoral election.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia tweeted on Thursday about the proposal sent to the Lieutenant Governor. He said that the MCD had asked for the House meeting to be held on January 30, but the Delhi government has sent a proposal to convene the House meeting before January 26. He said the MCD has been operating without a mayor for the past eight months. For this reason, it is not right to postpone the election of the mayor.

Last Monday, the MCD had sent a report to the Lieutenant Governor about the failure to take the oath of office to the council members in the House on January 6 and the failure to elect the mayor, deputy mayor and members of the standing committee. Apart from this, the MCD had also urged him to set a date for convening the Assembly of the House. The MCD, for its part, had proposed to hold a meeting on 30 January. At the same time, the MCD had blamed members of the Aam Aadmi party for the uproar in the House.
