A case of demanding extortion of Rs 10 crore from retired IAS GS Meena (63) has emerged. The suspect asked for money by sending messages via telephone and WhatsApp. The suspect, along with two accomplices, also threatened to kill the victim within seven days by doing Facebook Live. The family was shocked by this.
The victim reported this to Tughlaq Road police station on Monday. After this, the police arrested main defendant Yogesh Kumar Meena on Tuesday. Tughlaq Road Police Station has taken Yogesh into custody for two days after bringing him to court. The police are looking for the suspects Ajay Meena and Sachin.
According to New Delhi District Police officials, GS lives with relatives in Meena Lodhi Estate. He held senior positions in various ministries. He is currently a member of Delhi Cooperative Tribunal. In a complaint filed at Tughlaq Road police station on Tuesday, he has said that someone is demanding Rs 10 crore from him. The family is threatened with death for not giving the money. Next to the phone, the suspect asks for extortion by sending WhatsApp messages.
The suspect has sent more than 50 WhatsApp messages with threats and extortion. It was later discovered that Yogesh had been a cop (security guard) in Tihar looking for extortion and he was fired on February 2, 2023. After registering the case, the team of President Yogeshwar Singh of Tughlaq Road Police Station and Inspector Sunil Kumar started the investigation. The team arrested the prime suspect, Yogesh Kumar, a resident of Bharti Nagar, from Delhi, on Tuesday. The police make a raid to apprehend the suspect’s henchmen, Ajay Meena and Sachin.
During the interrogation, the suspect said that money was needed after he was kicked out of the job.
During the interrogation, the accused told Yogesh that he had been fired. That’s why he needed money. By raising a good amount of money, Meena used to spend for the good of the society. He had met suspect GS Meena at a social event in Rajasthan.
