Delhi: Case pivots on Shehla Rashid, LG approves controversial remarks against army

The Lieutenant Governor has approved the prosecution of Shehla Rashid, former Vice President of the JNU Students’ Union, over her controversial remarks against the military. Rashid had made two controversial tweets against the Indian Army in August 2019.

It is said that it not only diminished mutual harmony, but also fostered enmity between the groups. On September 3, 2019, the Special Cell registered an FIR against Shehla under Section 153-A of the IPC. Now, with the approval of LG’s prosecution, the case will continue.
