The biogas plant under construction at Nangli Sakrawati in Najafgarh zone will start on a trial basis from Thursday. After five months it will start operating at full capacity. Biogas and organic manure are prepared here from cow manure from 1500 dairy farms in the area. Mayor Dr. Shelly Oberoi visited the site of the biogas plant on Wednesday and inspected it. He said this plant would reduce animal manure dumping in landfills. The plant will use approximately 200 tonnes of cow manure produced daily by approximately 1,500 dairy farms in the region. Biogas and organic fertilizers are made from cow manure and are used in parks maintained by the corporation and other municipal agencies. The organic fertilizer that comes from here will also be available to the common people.
