The three-day session of the Delhi Assembly will begin on January 16. The Bulletin of the Assembly secretariat states that the session will start at 11:00 on Monday. Meetings are scheduled for January 16, 17 and 18. In view of the urgency of the work, the debate of the House can be expanded even further.
Given the current Corona situation, members have been requested to wear face masks. It is possible to discuss the recent meeting of the MCD House in the House meeting. In this there is the possibility of a dispute between the parties and the opposition over the role of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi.
Three-day editing session illegal: Bidhuri
The opposition has called the convening of just a three-day session of the Delhi Assembly illegal. In connection with this, the Lieutenant Governor has been requested to cancel this three-day session and to order that the winter session be convened in accordance with the rules, during which, among other things, question time and all other statutory regulations will take place.
Ramveer Singh Bidhuri, the leader of the Assembly’s opposition, has said information has been sent to convene only a three-day session of the Assembly from January 16. According to the rules, it is necessary to hold three full-time sessions, budget session, monsoon session and winter session in a calendar year, but the Delhi government has not convened the winter session this time.
This rule is made by the Parliament and also applies to the Delhi Legislative Assembly. Now the three-day assembly meeting that is called into the next part of the previous session has been self-created. This is completely against the rules.
