A 33-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly robbing a person of Rs 17 lakh after attacking a person trying to deposit money at an ATM in the Sultanpuri district outside Delhi last week. Rahul Bansal, a resident of Budh Vihar, Delhi, along with one of his accomplices had committed the incident of sexual assault and robbery with the victim. Police said that Rs 75,000 was recovered from him from the looted cash after his arrest. Police said they are looking for his accomplice.
The incident occurred when Ashish Kumar, an employee of milk distributor Surendra Rana, went on his motorbike to a nearby ATM to deposit his share of the daily collection. When he was near Krishna Vihar, he was reportedly confronted by two passersby. A senior officer said one of them, wearing a mask, allegedly started beating Kumar with a baton, snatched his bag and fled.
The police said the Crime Branch team has arrested one of the suspects involved in the robbery and recovered Rs 75,000 in cash from the looted amount, while efforts are made to apprehend his accomplice.
