Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal has appealed to the Lieutenant Governor for a public debate on interference in the functioning of the government and decision-making outside the Council of Ministers. In his letter of reply to the Lieutenant Governor, he wrote that you must make your position on sidelining the government public.
Kejriwal wrote in the letter that the public has strongly criticized the appointment of 10 aldermen, presiding officers and the Haj Committee by notifying the authorities directly. To this you say that it is written in all those laws and regulations that the administrator-Lieutenant Governor will be appointed. So are you going to direct all departments related to electricity, health, water, education right now? What will the elected government of Delhi do then? Wouldn’t this run counter to all Supreme Court rulings on devolved issues pertaining to an elected government? These questions are very important, so it’s better to have a public discussion than a private one.
