LG and AAP are again at odds over the rejuvenation of Bhalswa Lake. Visiting the lake on Tuesday, the LG appreciated the efforts of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for the revival of this priceless asset of Delhi. The water minister of the Delhi government Saurabh Bhardwaj accused the lieutenant governor of taking false credit for the works of the Delhi government. Considering the dignity of the post, it is not worthy.
In his tweet, Bharadwaj has said that Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has been rejuvenated under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal. The elected government of Delhi is working on about 35-36 water bodies of DDA. While addressing via tweet, Bhardwaj has also said that the lieutenant governor took office in May 2022. In January last year, the work order for the rejuvenation of the DDA drain was given.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi Jal Board had taken the initiative in this direction for the rejuvenation of DDA runoff. During an excavation, Bhardwaj said that cow dung from Bhalswa Dairy was dumped into DDA Lake for years. The then BJP-ruled company was responsible for cleaning the lake.
The lieutenant governor had given instructions for cleaning up the lake.
An LG Secretariat official said Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena visited Bhalswa Lake on Oct. 15. He saw its pitiable condition. No work was underway to clean the reservoir, after which the LG ordered the DDA to take over the lake. Only then did the real cleaning begin.
Permission was granted to revive the reservoirs: Bhardwaj
In the tweet, Bhardwaj referred to a May 17, 2019 letter from the DDA that authorized the Delhi government to revive seven water bodies, including this one. After being in charge of LG of Delhi in May 2022, you will be given credit for the work of the Delhi Government for months. It doesn’t suit your position.
