Mumbai, January 09. In terms of the Indian box office, the first week of the year 2023 has been decent. No major Bollywood movie has been released and the previous releases weren’t great either. Director Rohit Shetty’s Circus tanked badly, while Drishyam 2 slowed down. The Hollywood movie Avatar: The Way of Water remained the first choice of audiences while the Marathi movie Vaid managed to lure people in.
Director James Cameron’s film Avatar: The Way of Water performed exceptionally well in the first week of 2023. According to reports, the film earned Rs 59.85 crore from December 30, 2022 to January 5, 2023.
According to reports, the film has so far collected a total revenue of Rs 353.95 crore in India. The film is expected to beat the lifetime collection of Aamir Khan’s Dangal (Rs 387.38 crore) in its fourth week.
Actor Ritesh Deshmukh’s Marathi film Ved is getting a lot of love from the audience. Made on a budget of Rs 15 crore, the film has made sales of over Rs 20 crore in its first week itself. Please tell me that this is the first movie made under the direction of Ritesh. The movie Wed also stars Riteish along with his wife Genelia D’Souza and television actress Jia Shankar.
Ajay Devgan’s film Drishyam 2 has been completed 50 days after release. Now the pace of the movie collection at the box office is starting to slow down. The film has grossed around Rs 6.06 crore in the first week of January. With this, the total collection of Drishyam has reached 2 Rs 237.16 crore. The film is expected to cross the Rs 250 crore mark at the box office soon.
Actor Ranveer Singh’s film Circus is about to flop. Made on a budget of Rs 150 crore, the film has only collected Rs 36.82 crore. Despite being a multistarrer family entertainer, the film fails to entertain the audience. On the other hand, Varun Dhawan’s film Bhediya made on a budget of Rs 60 crore has collected a total of Rs 68 crore.
