In the new year, traveling by car taxi has become expensive in Delhi. The Delhi government has announced an increase in car taxi fares. An increase of about 20 percent in car fares, while about 40 percent in taxi fares, will affect the pockets of lakhs of commuters. The government of Delhi has issued its notice. Now a minimum of Rs 41 for 1.5 km in car while Rs 57 has to be paid for traveling one km in taxi. The night rate for car taxis has been kept at 25 percent, while the waiting rate has also been revised.

The starting rate (meter down) of cars in Delhi has been increased from Rs 25 to Rs 30. For taxis, the minimum rate for the first kilometer has been increased from Rs 25 to Rs 40. Passengers have to pay Rs 11 per kilometer for cars from Rs 9, 5 to Rs. For travel in a non-AC taxi, the second kilometer (per km) rate has been increased from Rs 14 to Rs 17. The AC taxi fare has been increased from Rs 16 to Rs 20 per km.

The committee recommended
Car rates were revised earlier in 2020. In this, economy and premium taxis were increased in 2013 along with Kali-Peeli. Delhi’s Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot was demanded by the car and taxi unions to raise the rate following the increase in the price of CNG. This will bring relief to thousands of car taxi drivers in Delhi. The government set up a 13-member committee in 2022 to raise the rate. The committee recommended reviewing the rates for black-yellow and economy taxis. Following its assessment, the Kejriwal government issued its notification.

Waiting costs: Re 1 per minute, for every minute in traffic or at extremely low speeds (less than 1 km in 10 minutes)
Accessories: Increased by Rs 10 to Rs 15 each
